Every surface a candidate
Façades, glazing zones, spandrels, roofs and canopies are treated as individual candidate surfaces with area, orientation and position — derived from the canonical model, not building-average assumptions.
A first pass across every candidate surface — roofs, façades, glazing zones, spandrels and canopies — scored on exposure, product fit, economics, carbon, constructability and data confidence. Fast enough for a portfolio; explainable enough to defend.
Façades, glazing zones, spandrels, roofs and canopies are treated as individual candidate surfaces with area, orientation and position — derived from the canonical model, not building-average assumptions.
Solar position across the day and year is matched to each surface's orientation and tilt, with horizon and geometry-based shading context layered on — two adjacent zones of the same façade can land in very different bands.
The PV Opportunity Score combines solar potential, deployable surface, economic return, carbon impact, constructability, energy utilisation and data confidence — each component visible and contestable.
Instead of a single black-box number, SolaMaxa breaks every opportunity into the drivers behind it. Challenge a component — the shading context, the product fit, the utilisation assumption — and re-score with your own inputs.
Scores are labelled complete, provisional or insufficient-data. A component with no inputs is reported as unavailable — never quietly filled with a neutral value.
Portfolios rank assets by the same authoritative Opportunity Score, with data confidence alongside so a high score on thin data doesn't outrank a solid one. Buildings without complete analysis are shown as exactly that.
Bring a project, a portfolio or a product question. We'll run the whole-envelope screening with you and show where the score comes from.
